Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own golf clubs, or can I rent equipment during our trip?

On our golf trips, guests may either bring their own clubs or rent high-quality equipment directly at the courses we visit. Many Irish courses offer excellent rental sets suitable for all playing styles. If you prefer to rent, we recommend letting our team know in advance so our guides can coordinate availability and ensure everything is ready when you arrive.

Yes, our golf trips are designed for all skill levels. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned golfer, our guides help select courses that match your ability and pace. We can include practice facilities, relaxed parkland courses, or challenging championship layouts, ensuring everyone enjoys the experience without pressure or feeling rushed.

Our guides are experienced in managing groups with varied golfing abilities and expectations. We design itineraries that balance pace, course difficulty, and downtime, so no one feels pressured or left behind. For groups with non-golfers or mixed interests, we can stagger activities or include alternative cultural stops.

Irish golf culture places strong emphasis on respect for the course, fellow players, and local traditions. Our guides brief guests on pace-of-play expectations, dress codes, and clubhouse customs before each round. Simple practices like repairing divots, arriving early for tee times, and greeting playing partners go a long way.

We design our golf trips with realistic pacing in mind, especially for guests arriving from long-haul flights. Our guides avoid stacking early starts on consecutive days and build in lighter mornings, scenic drives, or relaxed lunches when needed. This thoughtful scheduling helps guests stay refreshed, enjoy their rounds, and maintain energy throughout the entire trip.

Ancestry Tour

Our certified genealogist and tour guide Ian, will take you on an immersive experience to see where your ancestors once worshipped, worked, lived and loved. We have various tour options available to you. Have you completed your genealogy research and know where you want to visit? Driving in Ireland can often be challenging as searching for your ancestors on local roads can be difficult and time consuming. Royal Historical tours qualified tour guide and certified genealogist can take you ‘home’. Do you require genealogy research? We are partnered with award winning genealogy company, My Ireland Heritage that can undertake your genealogy research as they specialize in finding your ancestors exact location in the 1800’s.

I hired Ian Darragh as my guide for the day. Not only is he incredibly engaging, funny and personable but astutely experienced in genealogy and Irish history – the good, bad and ugly. There was not a moment that I wasn’t fascinated with the tales.

BUT what took it over the top was his perseverance in the goal to help me locate some kind of trace of my ancestors. With a stop at the Louth County Library and a few friendly calls on some local elders we headed to Monasterboice to see the High Cross. What was wholy unexpected was to find my ancestors memorial just yards away in the same graveyard!

The day was beyond memorable and I cannot wait to book another adventure with Ian as I continue to research my Irish Ancestors and discover more about the amazing isle of Ireland.
